Ever since its conception decades ago, video games have become a favorite pastime of millions, if not billions of people. One of the few activities more popular than video games is watching TV. We usually play video games via a console. Though a console could be used for many other activities such as media. You can go from playing a game with a friend to watching a movie on Netflix or even watching the news. With consoles being so useful and entertaining, many consoles have hit the market, and with a wide variety of consoles to choose from, it can get confusing and sometimes overwhelming.

The Xbox Series X: The Console for Xbox Enjoyers
The Xbox Series X came with a lot of hype and lived up to it. With specs lighting up the board, the Series X is a beast. It has an AMD Zen 2 CPU and a 12 teraflop GPU, superior to the PS5. Not just that, but the Series X also packs 16 gigabytes of RAM and 1 Terabyte of storage. As for graphics, it can run from 4k and 60 fps to 8k and 120 fps. One of its downsides, though, is how heavy it is.
PROS: Very powerful, improved from Series S, good for media
CONS: Kinda heavy, not everyone prefers Xbox
(If you can’t seem to afford a Series X, then the Series S is always a great alternative.)

The PlayStation 5: The Console for PlayStation Enjoyers
PlayStation has given Xbox a run for their money from the start. Their models have shown great competition against Xbox, and the new PS5 is no exception. With a Zen 2 CPU identical to the Series X and a GPU of 10.28 teraflops. It also packs in 825 gigabytes of storage and 16 gigabytes of RAM. Also, it produces similar graphics to the Series X ranging from 4k and 60 fps to 8k and 120 fps. Like the Xbox, it is pretty heavy and takes up a lot of space.
PROS: Very powerful, highly improved from the PS4, good for media
CONS: The console takes up a lot of space, doesn’t run games from older consoles, the controller may be too big, PlayStation isn’t everyone’s cup of tea
The Nintendo Switch: The Console for Nintendo Enjoyers
Standing out from the previous two consoles is the Nintendo Switch. This portable console was released five years ago and is still very popular today. Unlike the Xbox or PlayStation, the Nintendo Switch is portable and affordable. Yet there may be some downsides, as it is not as powerful as the others. Not only that, but the base Nintendo Switch is five years old, which is why they have the Nintendo Switch OLED version. A Nintendo Switch would be nice if you want affordability and/or portability.
PROS: Affordable, portable, great for Nintendo enthusiasts
CONS: Not real powerful, the base version is somewhat old, not everyone likes Nintendo
