Before we get on with Bard, I’d first like to apologize for the lack of activity in the past month. Life has gotten quite busy, but going on I will allocate more time for this blog to give more updates on the tech world.
Current Situation
With ChatGPT capturing the attention of the entire world since it’s conception in November, the significance of Artificial Intelligence’s impact on our daily lives has increase exponentially. Now, more and more companies are jumping on the chatbot train, one of those companies being Google. Recently, the company released it’s AI chatbot: Bard.
What is Bard?
Bard is an AI chatbot developed by Google that specializes in generating creative writing, including poetry, dialogue, and prose. It is based on a neural network architecture called GPT-3, which is capable of generating natural language text that is difficult to distinguish from text written by humans.
The chatbot uses machine learning to analyze large amounts of text data, such as literature and poetry, in order to learn the structure and style of different writing genres. It then generates its own original text by predicting the most likely next word in a sequence based on the input it has received.
Unlike other chatbots that are designed to answer specific questions or provide information on a particular topic, Bard is designed to engage in creative writing and storytelling. Users can provide prompts or input to Bard, such as a topic or a specific style of writing, and Bard will generate a new piece of writing based on that input.
This is part of Google’s broader efforts to use machine learning and AI to enhance human creativity and enable new forms of artistic expression. While still in the experimental stage, Bard shows promise as a tool for generating new ideas and expanding the boundaries of human creativity.
However, it’s been a shaky start. Reported by cnet, during a demonstration meant to show off the Bard’s abilities, the company got called out when the AI chatbot provided inaccurate information about the James Webb Space Telescope. Subsequently, Google stressed that Bard is still an experiment and noted that the AI tool won’t “always get things right.”
Conclusion
Despite it’s rocky beginning, Bard seems to have substantial potential, especially considering the power and wealth of Google. So what’s next? Will Bard be a flop? Will it overtake ChatGPT? Perhaps it may take a secondary position? We shall see in the coming months.
